Shakespeare Project

In Class 9 over the last 3 weeks we have been studying Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the characters in the story and examining the plot to decide who was truly responsible for killing King Duncan. They have created monologues in the style of their chosen character, written newspaper reports and narratives, performed raps in groups and recorded their own vlogs about a particular aspect of the plot. We all had so much fun on Friday (16th March) when we dressed up as a character from Macbeth for a day focussed upon visual literacy.

C9SH (Y5/6)

12th February 2018:

P.E. days have changed this half term to Monday and Wednesday. Please make sure that both indoor and outdoor kit is in school each week.

I'm a Carr Mill pupil; can you get me out of here?

Our geography topic has proved to be a wonderful one with the children enjoying their 'wow day' attending 'forest school'. Miss Rigby taught the children a variety of skills in our outdoor woodland area. They had the opportunity to create dens, learn how to start fires and other survival techniques. Toasted marshmallows were a great way to finish the session!

Magical Maths Week (22.01.18)

Last week was Magical Maths week in school and we had lots of fun cracking codes and making up magic number tricks in class 9. On Wednesday we visited Class 8 to break their codes and Class 7 came to our class to crack ours. Some were very tricky!

T Rockstars landed in school on Thursday and we are all very keen to improve our rock star speed already. Usernames and passwords have been sent home and they are also in homework books for use daily at home. We hope to see some rock heroes in our class very soon!

On Friday we celebrated what we had done throughout the week in our family assembly.

Our class award winners were as follows:

Most resilient code/puzzle maker - Ben Parry

Most resilient code/puzzle breaker - Charlotte Mee

Competition winner - Elisha Dunn

Well done to all the children for such creative entries to the competition and showing their resilience when cracking codes and solving puzzles!

Parents were invited back to class to try some code breaking themselves!

Welcome back to our spring term in school!

I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year. Our class will be swimming every Thursday afternoon this half term (5 weeks). Please make sure you have your full swimming kit with you each week.

Autumn 2- November / December 2017

Christmas has arrived in Class 9!

Today was Christmas Jumper Day in school so we all came to school wearing our favourite one ready for our carol service at St David's Church. We all sang beautifully and are now feeling in the Christmas spirit! We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and peaceful New Year.

We have been learning about Diwali in our R.E. lessons this half term. To finish our topic, we visited Reception children and taught them all about the way it is celebrated. We acted out the story of Diwali, children designed their own Rangoli patterns and we looked at how henna is used for skin decoration.

World War I Class Assembly

Our class assembly took place today (Friday 1st December) and the children performed brilliantly! Today's assembly follows on from an amazing 2 months in Class 9:  Our WW1 wow day, Innovation & Enterprise project, Friendship Week activities and our WW1 Remembrance Service at Lowe House Church. Parents and carers have visited our class and took part in activities such as creating an individual fish pebble for our whole school art project. See below for pictures and the link to watch our class assembly.

Please watch out for key dates in terms of our Christmas productions and festivities over the next few weeks.

September 2017

Hello and welcome back to the Autumn term at Carr Mill Primary and C9SH.

Teaching team: I am Miss Hampton and I will be teaching Class 9 along with Miss Harris and Mrs O’Donnell.

Class Routines: If your child would like toast, please send the money in a named envelope on a Monday morning. Toast is 15p per day.

PE: P.E. sessions will be taught on Thursday and Friday each week. Thursday will be an indoor lesson which will require an indoor PE kit and Friday will need an outdoor PE kit. Please ensure that the children have the correct PE kit in school (indoor-black shorts, white T-shirt and black pumps / outdoor-same as indoor but with jogging bottoms, sweatshirt and trainers).

Homework: this is sent out every Friday and is expected to be in on Wednesday morning.

Reading diaries: These will be checked every Monday morning to ensure that the children have read a minimum of 4 times. The children can record what they have read, and then write 2 sentences about this. All entries will need to be signed by an adult.

Reminders: Please ensure that your child brings a labelled water bottle to school every day.

Please use this page to find out what we have been up to in class 9 and for any information including homework;  which can be found in the homework section above.
