The latest league tables for English Primary Schools have been released and it fills me with great pride to let you know how Carr Mill has performed when compared to the other 61 primary schools across St Helens.

I’m certain you will agree that these are outstanding results that we all should be incredibly proud of. A personal thank you to all our staff and governors who continue to work tirelessly to drive forward our high standards and expectations. Also a massive thank you to our parents and carers who continue to support the children and ensure that they have every opportunity to reach their enormous potential. Finally to our children, who understand that always aiming for their Personal Best in all that they do is what makes all the difference.

Spring 1 Reflection

Reflecting back on the last half term it’s fantastic to think about the large number and wide range of events and activities that our children have been involved in:

Young Voices choir, Friends of Carr Mill Valentines Disco, Maths Week, Public Speaking Week, C7DM Egyptian Celebration Morning, C3DL Katie Morag Celebration Morning, Design Technology Days with Specialist Teachers, Anglo Saxon Experience days, World Museum Educational Visit, Jump Nation ABC Award, Pirate Party day, Forest School Sessions and much, much more—all over the last 6 weeks!

We will continue to provide a large variety of events and activities for our children, as well as inviting you in to celebrate their achievements throughout the rest of the year.

Young Voices Choir

Congratulations to our children who were amongst thousands of others from around the North West who took part in the 2017 Young Voices event at Manchester Arena. As usual our children did us proud, singing their hearts out and being wonderful representatives of Carr Mill Primary School. A special thanks goes to the adults who give up their time to make this happen—not only on the afternoon and night of the event, but also in the months leading up to it. Thank you to Miss McEvoy, Miss Campbell, Mrs O’Donnell and Mrs Mee. Please take the time to view our Young Voices Celebration Video at the bottom of the page, and finally once again—well done and thank you for being such amazing representatives of our school to the stars of the show—our children!

Tea@2 with Mr Maley!

This week I was fortunate to have afternoon tea with four of our Reception children—Lily, Leon, Cleo and Oscar. It was fantastic to hear how proud they are of everything they are doing in school and see the progress they have made in their work. I’m already looking forward to having afternoon tea with some of our children in C1MP next!

St Helens Rugby League Boots Christmas Dash Award

With the ongoing work we do alongside St Helens RFC, it was great news for the school to be presented with a framed signed shirt. Players from the squad came into school to make the presentation to our School Council and Sports Ambassadors. Many thanks to everyone who has supported any events involving the school and Saints over the year.

Friends of Carr Mill ‘Valentines Disco’

Many thanks to our ‘Friends of Carr Mill’ for organising a Disco for our KS1 and KS2 children. The children had a fantastic time, with plenty of dancing and hot dogs!

Thanks again to our parents and carers who put all the effort into this event and the many others that have been held this year. It really makes a massive difference to the school and the children and staff really do appreciate it.

Further information will be provided of upcoming events for anyone who would like to be involved with the ‘Friends of Carr Mill’ group over the coming months.

C3DL Katie Morag ‘Celebration Morning’

Congratulations to the children of Miss Lloyd’s class for putting on a great show about Katie Morag this morning. Some of the costumes were fantastic and the Kaylee dancing was wonderful—well done to Classes 1 and 2 for joining in with this too! The celebrations continued after this, and I have to say the Flapjacks that the children have made taste delicious!

Website Blogging!

I would like to invite you all to write a 'blog' on our website. You don't need to sign in - simply go to the top of this page, click on school blogs, pick a blog and then start typing. You can either say something different or reply to one that someone has already written. All blogs are sent for approval, but once approved they are a great way of sharing your opinion on a range of school topics. I hope to speak to you soon on a blog!

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr A Maley
