Class 3 - Amazing Africa

Lesson: Art and design

This half term we have found out lots about the continent of Africa.
We started our learning with a comparison study in Geography. We compared the human and physical features of England and Tanzania. We looked closely at a school in Tanzania, called Arise Primary School, that has been set up by a charity.
We used all of the new things that we had found out about life in this part of Africa to write recounts in English.
Then we ended the half term with an art week. During this week we looked at the Maasai tribe, creating jewelry using colourful repeated patterns. We then used this knowledge and the skills of weaving to make our own version of the kente cloth. Finally we created a piece of art work to represent the Maasai tribe in the style of Martin Bulinya.
