PATHS
At Carr Mill Primary School, the children and their learning are at the very heart of every decision made.
We will help the children to develop an emotional literacy and will encourage them to identify the differences between emotions and behaviours. They will make up their own minds and be ready to accept responsibility for what they do.
They will want to be honest with themselves and with others. The Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education of pupils at Carr Mill Primary School is cross-curricular with PATHS at the centre of the planning.
Did you know we are a Barnardo's PATHS Worldwide Model School?
In January 2024, we were awarded WORLDWIDE MODEL SCHOOL STATUS by Barnardo’s for our delivery of the PATHS Programme as our universal offer to all pupils to support their Mental Health and Wellbeing through development of their self-control, emotional awareness and interpersonal problem-solving skills. We now act as a centre of best practice, supporting other school to implement this approach within their settings.
What is PATHS?
PATHS = Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies
Children at our school participate in twice weekly Barnardo’s PATHS lessons to understand and manage emotions. PATHS lessons de-stigmatise discussion around emotions/feelings/mental health and model what the children need to do if they need help to tackle them.
Meet our B's Buddies
Our B's Buddies are thoughtful, caring members of #TeamCarrMill who help others on the playground. They can help you solve problems that you may have and help to create and lead games!
